Issues with OneDrive in Windows Explorer

Hi all

I'm having a few issues with OneDrive as it appears on my PC, namely in Windows Explorer.

First off, I have attempted to uninstall (by first unlinking account, then uninstalling the app) which did not work, then I did the same with using Revo Uninstaller to remove associated registry items, but the issue keeps coming back when reinstalling OneDrive. I have scoured the web troubleshooting the following but have not found anything related to my specific issue hence my need to ask here.

When initially installing OneDrive (and on every reinstall attempt since), I elected to use a different folder on my system instead of the C: Drive. 'D:/OneDrive' is my chosen location.

I noted recently that when I attempted to access my OneDrive folder from Windows Explorer, nothing happens when I click onto the quick launch icons. It does not take me to my OneDrive folder. So too, nothing happens when I click into the OneDrive icon in the system tray and select 'Open Folder' there.

I CAN access my folder when I navigate 'manually' through the D Drive and to the OneDrive Directory. Clearly the links with Explorer's quick access pane are broken somehow, even after reinstalls. When I right click > Properties into them to try and see where their target is, they come up with completely blank details (see attachment below).

It's also worth noting that I attempted to create a direct link by pinning the D: Folder to quick access which does the exact same thing ie. nothing, but with the same blank properties as in the attachment. Oddly though, I cannot unpin this from the Quick Lauch by right clicking > Unpin. Trying that does nothing. I can create a desktop shortcut to the folder and it works from there, but nothing from the Left hand pane of Explorer takes me to the folder.

I don't get what is happening here. Onedrive is active and working but even after uninstalls and reinstalls (and Revo Uninstaller removing previous Registry entries) OneDrive Explorer icons are just not playing ball and it's frustrating.

Any help here would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Windows Update - Update History.

Check the KB number of the latest update that has been installed on your PC, is it KB5094126?

If that update is installed on your PC, that is the cause of the problem of the integration of OneDrive and Explorer, this is widely reported in that update, Microsoft have acknowledged this bug and they are working to resolve the problem and will push out a fix as soon as it is available.

Bit of an update, though I'm not sure if this is a full solution or just a workaround for now.

I'd read that changing UAC settings helps https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/1u1ph9m/kb5094126_breaking_onedrive/

I have always UAC at the bottom end of the slider (I tend to not make changes or install software that I don't trust) as the UAC popups annoy me. After sliding the slider up to the highest setting and rebooting, lo and behold those links worked and I could unpin the onedrive quick access pinned item. Crazy.

I did try reverting the change and changed UAC back to the bottom of the slider to see if it would go back to being a broken link, rebooted and it stayed working.

I'm not going to hold my breath but hopefully that is the last of this issue now. Perhaps the repair install Qain suggested was a fix and did do something, but I didn't get it working until I performed this interesting UAC dance.

My issue is with OneDrive Personal only. I was unable to access it (unable click quick link), while my OneDrive Production account was working normally.
