Tried to send email to a friend yesterday which failed. I have been unable to send or receive emails since. I am told this is due to your error code 5.7.520 which l understand means you have blocked my account. How do l reopen the account and can start sending/receive emails again.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

As well as the information already provided I wanted to mention that this could be an organizational issue as well. This link from The Windows Club https://www.thewindowsclub.com/remote-server-returned-550-5-7-520-access-denied explains the issue and the possible solutions that go with it.

Error 5.7.520 and the fact that sending and receiving stopped together strongly indicate the Outlook.com account has been blocked due to unusual activity.

    To restore sending/receiving:

    1. Unblock the Outlook.com account
Use the Outlook.com unblock flow to remove the block on the account. Follow the steps in Unblock my Outlook.com account to verify identity and complete the unblock process.
    2. If sign-in is failing or looping
If signing in is also a problem, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper to resolve sign-in issues and regain access.
    3. If problems persist after unblocking
If the account is unblocked but email still does not work, use Outlook.com’s built‑in help:
      • Sign in to Outlook.com.
      • Select Help on the menu bar and enter the issue (for example, “can’t send or receive email”).
      • If self‑help does not fix it, scroll to Still need help? and choose Yes to contact support.

These steps are required because when a Microsoft account is blocked for unusual activity, normal mail flow (send/receive) is stopped until the block is cleared.
