Friday FAQ

Can you advise on how I can get the output of the App Analyzer 2006 in Excel format instead of PDF?

When viewing the reports, select the Export option and then select the Save as Type drop down menu -- you will be given four format options: PDF, Microsoft Excel, Word and RTF.

What types of data elements can be stored in a Lotus Notes Rich Text Field?

File attachments, formatted text (color, fonts), embedded graphics, tables, links, action buttons and collapsible sections.

Have a great weekend!

Hey - I have used the method you outlined to get the data into Excel, but it is only a fraction of the data the tool is collecting and does not allow for deep analysis.  Is there any way to get the kind of data you used to get with the 2003 tool into Excel?

Hi, all the information collected by the AppAnalyzer is stored in SQL databases (either MSDE or SQL2000).  You can use the SQL client to view all the data in tables, and to export all the data into Excel, Access, CSV, etc.   Each SQL table will be imported to seperate Excel worksheets.   Once, there, I can do some interesting things, for example, being able to sort by template name, forms, fields, views, agents -- I can start to see common patterns of similar applications.
