More on Windows Mobile Momentum

I recently blogged about the momentum of Windows Mobile. Since that post I found two more dtapoints worth sharing:

  • 14.3 million Windows Mobile phones sold in the last six months alone. This according to an Engadget report on Microsoft's keynote at the MObile World Congress.
  • A total of 84% of all surveyed organizations are deploying or will deploy Windows Mobile in the next 12 months. Aberdeen research just published a report based on a survey they did back in November in which over 700 organizations participated. One of the key findings in the report: 69% of organizations are currently deploying Windows Mobile. An additional 15% have budgeted for or are planning to deploy Windows Mobile in the next 12 months.

Interesting number about the device sold in the last 6 months! Any idea how they break down with regards to platform upgrades vs. new users?

All these are new devices. I don't think Microsoft has shared any data about who is replacing his device with a new one versus net-new purchases. Given the growth of Windows Mobile, the majority is net-new.
