I’m pregnant
My husband and I have exciting news: we are expecting a child. The baby is due on August 20. As a result, I will be taking maternity leave from whenever I go into labor until approximately January. Microsoft is an amazing company to work for, providing 20 weeks of maternity leave (some of that is unpaid).
I wanted to make this announcement well in advance so that everyone will be aware that I’ll be out for an extended period of time. That means that I will miss out on some great conferences: devLink, the St. Louis Day of .NET, the Ann Arbor Give Camp, several regional Celebrations of Women in Computing, and possibly CodeMash.
While I am out, you guys can work with my fabulous teammates:
- My developer evangelism colleagues in Heartland: Brian H. Prince and Jeff Blankenburg
- IT Professional needs: Matt Hester
- Women in Technology: Diane Curtis
I will be taking a break from blogging and tweeting during this time as well. If there is anything that you need from me, please let me know well in advance of August. I will miss you all during maternity leave!

Whooo Hoo! :) Are you planning on giving birth underwater? I hear it is less traumatic for the baby because it's in water. But certainly more traumatic for the other people in the pool.Anonymous
