A handy DVD integrity checker
One of the frequent install problems we have with the SDK is that users have bad downloads of our ISO file. Thankfully, there's a handy tool out on the Microsoft Downloads Center to check the file's integrity. The Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier is a simple console app that checks the MD5 or SHA1 cryptographic hashes for files. It works on all OSs, including Windows Vista, and runs very quickly. To verify your ISO is of good quality, just compare the hash against the hash on the SDK download site, and you should be good to go.
If you know of another tool that does similarly great work, please post it as a comment.
Here are the hashes for the Windows SDK:
AutoCRC: 0x3DFD5327
Size: 1.15 GB (1,245,220,864 bytes)
MD5 hash: c2ee660c326940d4ea78e7b6e48afb98
SHA-1 hash: 573f966ed120aeda74755283fb6112f1094327dc
Here are the hashes for the SDK Update:
AutoCRC: 0x9863D5EC
Size: 1.15 GB (1,237,436,416 bytes)
SHA-1 hash: 0x5D28463DAAA755450D697C850DD622D1F8B580AE
