REDMOND, Wash. — July 26, 2007 — Today, at Microsoft’s 2007 Financial Analyst Meeting, the company reported that its Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server business generated revenue of more than $800 million in fiscal year 2007, due to strong demand for the enterprise- ready, integrated server capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This represents a growth rate of more than 35 percent over fiscal year 2006.
“We were confident Office SharePoint Server 2007 would be well-received, but even we have been blown away by its phenomenal success,” said Kirk Koenigsbauer, general manager for SharePoint Product Management at Microsoft. “What we hear from customers of all sizes is that they love having a single product that spans so many areas that are critical to their business — from enterprise search and content management to business intelligence, collaboration, social computing and portals.”
A recent special study from IDC, “Microsoft SharePoint Server Ecosystem and Customer Usage Trends,” indicates that Office SharePoint Server is showing a strong and expanding presence within organizations.
“The majority of SharePoint deployments in the survey base of 300 U.S. organizations are currently enterprisewide (61 percent), with 28 percent of the current departmental deployments expected to become enterprisewide within the next 12 months,” according to IDC. “This is particularly the case for large organizations, where 51 percent plan to extend SharePoint to an enterprisewide audience.”
Del Monte Foods, for example, is in the process of rolling out Office SharePoint Server 2007 to its 17,000 employees.
“I’m quite confident that the key advancements in Office SharePoint Server 2007, particularly document management, search and the new user interface, will significantly improve the way our Del Monte Foods employees collaborate and interact with each other, and with our key partners,” said Jonathan Wynn, manager of Advanced Technology and Collaborative Services at Del Monte.
