SharePoint Capacity Planning Tool 베타 릴리즈

엔터프라이즈 환경에서 SharePoint 기반 서버 아키텍쳐를 설계할 때 유용하게 활용할 수 있는 SharePoint Capacity Planning Tool이 릴리즈 되었습니다; [상세 보기]

본 tool은 SharePoint 제품 구성시 기업의 환경에서 가장 효율적인 topology, hardware, bandwidth requirement등에 대한 결정을 내리는데 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대 됩니다.

현재는 베타 버전이 출시되었고, MOSS 2007과 WSS 3.0을 모두 지원하며, System Center Capacity Planner 2007에 SharePoint용 패키지를 설치하여 사용 가능 합니다.

본 tool은 다음과 같은 MOSS/WSS 구성 시나리오에 해당하는 Planning을 제공합니다.

SharePoint Capacity Planning Tool의 특징

(기업 가정: 본사와 3개의 branch office를 갖고 있으며 지점은 11Mbps의 전용 네트워크로 연결되어 있음. 본사와 branch는 각 1,000대의 client를 소유하고 있으며 MOSS 2007 도입시의 Planning 자료임)

- Model summary : 각 지점당 추천 H/W 및 storage의 요약 정보를 알기 쉽게 제공합니다.

- Visual model editor : 모든 지점 별 서버 팜 구성과 지점내 서버 토폴로지를 알기 쉽게 보여줍니다.

- Simulation results : 추천하는 구성으로 시스템을 구축 하였을 때로 가정하여 simulation 리포트를 제공합니다.

보고서에 따르면 branch office들의 Transaction의 latency가 조금 높게 나온 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 지점간 11Mbps이상의 전용선이 필요하다는 예측을 할 수 있습니다.

- Various user profile : 단순한 사용자 수가 아닌, 서버의 부하를 고려한 사용자 프로필 설정이 가능합니다.

- Bandwidth specification : 지점간 네트워크 상황을 지정할 수 있습니다.

- Considering High availability : SQL Server 의 high availability를 고려사항에 추가할 수 있습니다.
