New! Download an Out of office e-mail message

Heading out of town on vacation or just out of the office for awhile? You can set up an automatic reply for e-mail messages that you receive while you're away.

To save time,  try one of our two new templates for out of office messages. They come with options for indicating when you'll be away and alternate contacts while you're gone. You can also add a signature and a favorite quotation, just in case you like to add a little "something" personal to your messages.

To use, simply download and save the templates to your Drafts folder in Outlook 2007, and then use them either by:

  1. Copying the text of the Out of office reply (formal) to your Out of Office message whenever you're away.

NOTE:  This option is available only  if your company uses Microsoft Exchange Server for e-mail. Here's how to use the Out of Office Assistant in Outlook 2007.

  2. Setting up a rule to reply to incoming messages whenever you're away.

If your company doesn't use the Out of Office Assistant or if you're at home, this is the best option. You can use the text-only template, Out of office reply (formal), or use the more colorful template, Out of office reply (informal), and add your own picture and font colors.

Need help? Here's how to automatically reply to messages.
