Save As Form/Report

As I mentioned previously, we have introduced the capability to fold the filter into the underlying query in some cases. Besides the saving a table as a query case, you can also make use of this capability with forms and reports.

If you have a form/report and you have filtered it to match exactly what you want and you don't want the rest of the data to be apparent, you can save it as a form (File, Save As).

During the process of saving a form as a new form, the filter (if and only if it is applied - simply having an unapplied filter doesn't count), the filter is rolled into the record source. The newly saved (and created) form will not have a filter, of course.

This is very useful for generating specific views of a form or report. You can drill down until you have the right dataset and then save it as a specific view (say, save a filtered “Sales” report as a “Sales by Quarter” report).
