Silverlight Hallowe’en Card

Love this Hallowe’en card creator from Archetype:

Built using Silverlight, it enables you to carve your own pumpkin, add suitably demonic or gremlin-like sound effects using Silverlight’s built-in microphone integration support, and then share the final result with a friend. This is really cool – and a good example of the kind of experience that remains the preserve of plug-ins for now at least, even with the strong HTML5 support now emerging in modern browsers.

After a very messy weekend with some friends carving the real deal, my kids are going to have a lot of fun with this – try it out!

HTML5 may now provide some of the features that Silverlight provides, but the developer experience and scalability just isn't there. Silverlight was never just about the GPU and drawing primitives.  All the IE9 posts seemt to ignore this issue.
