Deploy Nonprofit data solutions in Microsoft Fabric

Important

Microsoft is making Nonprofit data solutions in Microsoft Fabric available as open-source assets so partners and the wider nonprofit community can adapt and build on them over time. Beginning February 1, 2027, Microsoft will no longer provide product engineering support or guarantee future maintenance, updates, or compatibility. As part of this transition, the Microsoft-published Nonprofit data solutions offer will be removed from Microsoft Fabric. Assets you already deployed remain in your workspaces, and you can continue to use them.

The Microsoft-published Nonprofit data solutions offer will be removed from Fabric, so you won't be able to obtain it there after removal. A partner-led solution might become available in the future, but Microsoft can't guarantee an offer, timing, or availability for every customer or market. If you currently use this solution, confirm which assets are already deployed in your workspace and that they continue to work in your environment. Those deployed assets remain in your workspace and you can continue to use them after the Microsoft-published offer is removed from Fabric. Document integrations, dependencies, security needs, and support ownership, and monitor future guidance.

Partners should use the open-source assets and may publish their own solutions in Microsoft Fabric after completing the applicable publishing requirements for the Fabric Workload Hub. Partners may use the open-source assets to build and support their own solutions. Before presenting an offer as available in the Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub, partners must complete applicable Microsoft Fabric publishing requirements and clearly define their support, security, pricing, capacity, and escalation model.

Important

Some or all of this functionality is available as part of a preview release. The content and the functionality are subject to change.

After meeting the prerequisites for deploying Nonprofit data solutions, use the following instructions to proceed with the deployment.

Note

Before you begin, ensure that the Nonprofit data solutions workload is enabled for your workspace or capacity. If you don't see the Fundraising option when following the steps listed in the subsequent sections, the workload might not be enabled. See Enable Nonprofit data solutions workload for instructions.

Create Fundraising item

You can create the Fundraising item using any of the following methods in Microsoft Fabric:

From the workspace

  1. Sign in to Microsoft Fabric.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Workspaces.
  3. Select a workspace that has the Nonprofit data solutions workload enabled.
  4. On the ribbon at the top of the workspace, select +New Item.
  5. At the top of the side panel that appears, select Filter Input.
  6. Enter Fundraising, and select the Fundraising workload.
  7. In the item creation dialog, enter the item name and select Create.

From the workload hub

  1. Sign in to Microsoft Fabric.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Workloads.
  3. Select Nonprofit data solutions.
  4. On the workload landing page, under Item types, select Fundraising.
  5. In the item creation dialog, enter the item name and select Create.

Deployment process

  1. When the Fundraising item is created, you're redirected to the item landing page.

  2. The deployment wizard starts automatically in a modal window, or you can trigger it by selecting the Start deployment button in the center of the item landing page.

  3. In the Overview step, review information about the solution, its components, and prerequisites for deployment.

  4. Select Next.

  5. In the Configuration step, review the deployment name and location that are prepopulated using the information you entered earlier. You can edit the deployment name, which serves as a prefix for all Fabric artifacts and is subject to validation. The Fundraising core package is always included. Select optional packages based on your data source (Dynamics 365 Sales with Common Data Model for Nonprofits or Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack), or select Sample data to try the solution without connecting your organization's data.

  6. Select Next.

  7. For any additional information related to the deployment, the Additional configuration step is displayed, which guides you through the instructions to ingest your selected data.

    • Dynamics 365 Sales with Common Data Model for Nonprofits:

      • Ensure that your setup meets all the necessary Dynamics 365 Sales prerequisites before the deployment. Failure to do so might result in the required lakehouse not appearing in the dropdown.
      • Select the OneLake lakehouse that contains your linked Dataverse data.
    • Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack:

      • Ensure that your setup meets all the necessary Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack prerequisites before the deployment. Failure to do so might result in the required lakehouse not appearing in the dropdown.
      • Select the Salesforce connection that links Salesforce objects to Microsoft Fabric.
    • Sample data: If you only selected Sample data in the previous step, you don't need to perform any other configuration.

  8. Select Next.

  9. In the Review step, you can see a list of the items for deployment. Select Deploy. The deployment status of each item updates until the deployment is complete.

  10. In the Finish step, you can see a list of next steps for using the solution.
