Visual Studio Error Messages

Only error messages that are generated by the integrated development environment (IDE), such as project and HTML Designer-related errors, are described in this section. If you get an error message that is not described here, return to the error message and then press F1 to view the associated Help topic.

• Error getting information on languages supported by online search providers.

• Evaluation stack overflow. The pattern may be too complex.

• Extender instance is no longer valid.

• Extender Provider doesn't support either the IExtenderProvider or the IExtenderProviderUnk interfaces.

• Extender Provider failed to return an Extender for this object.

• File <filename> cannot be created.

• File <name> cannot be registered as an COM component.

• File <name> size is incorrect.

• Option is not currently valid.

• Out of memory.

• Overflow.

• Package <name> failed to load.

• Path or drive is not valid.

• Please select more than one configuration. If you want to make changes to only one configuration, cancel out of the Multiple Configurations dialog and select that configuration from the configuration drop-down.

• Please select more than one platform. If you want to make changes to only one platform, cancel out of the Multiple Platforms dialog and select that platform from the platform drop-down.

• Please specify valid search string.

• Project type is not valid.

• Template <name> is not valid for the selected project.

• The <name> switch requires a value.

• The application cannot run.

• The application cannot shut down.

• The application cannot start.

• The application cannot undo.

• The application requires a .dll for class ID <number>.

• The selected Add-In has not been confirmed to be 'Command Line Safe', and may require some user intervention (possible UI).
