Review known issues
Check the following resources to understand if you encounter any known issues.
The SQL Server builds spreadsheet lists bugs that the product team fixes. This spreadsheet contains tabs with a detailed fix list for each mainstream supported version of SQL Server. You can sort this list by component and feature, and see when a specific problem was fixed. Each fix item links to its own article, which provides more details about the problem and any applicable workaround.
When the product team releases a cumulative update, they also release a Knowledge Base article that corresponds to that update. For example, KB5075211 - Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2025. View the table in that article under the "Improvements and fixes included in this update" section.
If the product team detects that an update introduced a problem or regression, it's immediately added to the "Known problems in this update" section of the same article. For example, in KB5023049 - Cumulative Update 19 for SQL Server 2019, two problems are highlighted that the update introduced.
Each major release of the product is accompanied by release notes for that version. The release notes document known issues associated with the release.
