Define a recurrence pattern

Completed

Until now, this module has focused on defining the specifics about the work orders and bookings that will be created by the booking setup. Now, you'll learn about when these items should be created. You can create these items by creating a booking recurrence. Select  Booking Recurrence on the command bar, and then define the following parameters:

  • Recurrence Pattern - Define how often the item should be done. You can specify daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. Depending on what's specified, different options are presented.

  • Range of Recurrence - Specify the time frame for the pattern. It defaults to the dates that are specified on the agreement, but you can set it to any range that you prefer.

The following image shows an example of a monthly recurrence pattern.

Note

For months that have less than 31 days, the recurrence will automatically trigger on the last day of that month.

Add incidents

In Dynamics 365 Field Service, you can use incidents to simplify the population of items, such as work order products, services, and tasks on work orders. When you add an incident type to a work order, any of the previously mentioned items on the incident type will be added automatically to the work order. Because agreements automatically generate work orders, it would make sense that you would want to associate an incident with a booking setup. That way, when the work order is created, all items that are defined on the incident are added automatically as well. You can add multiple incidents to an agreement. For example, if you're creating a booking for a monthly landscaping service, you might include a landscaping incident type. This booking could include any disposal services required and a task list for the person who will be completing the work.

You can add incidents to a booking setup record by going to the Sub Grids tab and selecting New Agreement Booking Incident on the Incidents sub grid.
