Create a machine ordering app with Power Apps - Online Workshop
In this learning path you'll complete hands on activities using Microsoft Power Platform. You'll build a solution to manage the process for ordering coffee machines for various Contoso locations.
This Learning Path is designed for use with the App in a Day instructor-led course. For more information on attending this free, instructor-led course, see Microsoft Power Platform instructor-led training. On that page, you can Register for an event.

In this module, you begin building the Microsoft Power Platform solution, starting with a Power Apps canvas app. This canvas app is a machine ordering app that allows different Contoso locations to order coffee machines. Later, in other exercises, you build the data model, build a model-driven app, and add automation with a Power Automate cloud flow for approvals.

Microsoft Dataverse adds data storage and modeling capabilities to Power Apps that are scalable and straightforward to provision. In this module, you use Microsoft Dataverse to model and store the data from the machine ordering canvas app that you built in a previous module. In the next module, you'll build a model-driven application by using the same data that is used by the back-office staff to process machine orders. These apps that you build on Dataverse use the same technology framework (Dataverse) that Microsoft Dynamics 365 apps are built on.

In the first lab module, you built a Power Apps canvas application for an organization where, every few years, the employees go through a coffee machine replacement cycle. The application allows employees to request a machine by using the app that you built. In the second lab module, while using a custom table that you created in the Microsoft Dataverse lab, you stored that request for processing. From the requesting employee's point of view, after they’ve placed the order, the new coffee machine shows up, but a back-office process needs to happen to manage the procurement, setup of the device, and distribution of the machine to that requesting employee. In this lab, you'll build a Power Apps model-driven app that back-office staff who manages to fulfill machine requests will use. By using the model-driven app style, you can take advantage of the business process feature of model-driven apps to keep the back-office staff on track for each machine request.

In this module, you create a flow that uses the Modern Approvals service to automate the approval workflow. It sends an email to the selected approver and take an action based on their response.
