In computer terms, the ability to provide additional resources to affect increased performance. In DNS, it is the capability of the DNS to properly service very large networks, such as the Internet.

Secondary servers are backup DNS Servers. Secondary servers receive their zone files from the primary server zone files in a zone transfer. Multiple secondary servers can reside in any given zoneāas many as necessary to provide load balancing, fault tolerance, and traffic reduction.
