Sole user of tenant "not a member of this tenant"

Hello. I recently inherited responsibility for a free Azure account my organization uses for Azure app credentials used by one of our integrations.

When logging in I am greeted by a modal informing me that "You are not a member of this tenant and do not have access to this directory...".

There is an additional error message "Experiencing Authentication Issues", the details of which states: "AADSTS50020: User account '(EmailHidden}' from identity provider 'live.com' does not exist in tenant 'Default Directory' and cannot access the application '44b4083-3bb0-49c1-b47d-974e53cbdf3c' (Azure Portal) in that tenant.

As far as anyone with knowledge of this Azure account knows, the user I am logging in as is the only user account on the tenant.

Because the support ticket system is within the Azure portal, I am unable to use it. Is there an alternate contact point for Azure support that I can reach out to to sort this out? (Alternatively any ideas on how to solve the issue directly are also welcome. I am new to dealing with Azure and am lost in the wilderness on this one.) Thanks in advance.

    I got the same modal message. The way I solved it was to click on the "head and shoulders" icon on the top right as if to Sign out. You will see a list of the userid's you use to log into Azure and 2 links: "My Microsoft account" and "Switch directory". Click on Switch directory. In my case I saw 2 directories listed, one that I didn't recognize that was set as "Current" and another one that was the correct one. This one had a button to "Switch" Click on "Switch" and voila, you will be redirected to your new Azure directory.

    @John Diaz
    Thank you for your post and for your time and patience throughout this issue!

    Error Message:
    AADSTS50020: User account '{EmailHidden}' from identity provider 'live.com' does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application '...cbdf3c' (Azure Portal) in that tenant.

    From our Error AADSTS50020 - User account from identity provider does not exist in tenant documentation, your specific issue could be related to Cause 3 - Signed into the wrong tenant. To make sure that this is the issue look for the User account and Identity provider values in the error message, to ensure that the values match the expected combination. For example, did you sign in by using the tenant specific account (i.e. ******@domain.onmicrosoft.com), or did you sign in using a live.com identity provider as shown in the error message.

    -------------------------

    If you're still unable to get access to your Azure AD tenant I'd recommend reaching out to our Global Customer Service team, as mentioned by @Michael Durkan , or you can contact the Azure Data Protection team for further assistance - (866-807-5850).

    For future reference, I'd also recommend creating and managing an emergency access account in Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization because you can't sign in for any reason.

    I hope this helps!

    If you have any other questions, please let me know.
    Thank you for your time and patience throughout this issue.
