No permission to edit own documents in document library

Hi,

I have a SharePoint-site with a filled document library, which I have synced with my Windows Explorer. Up to a couple of months ago I was able to add/adjust/remove documents from and to this synced drive. When I tried today, I wasn't able to modify anything in the document library, even though I haven't changed anything permission-wise.

Some additional notes:

  • There is a padlock in the status column in of the synced document library in Windows Explorer, which indicates that don't have enough rights to edit this document. Which is weird, because I am the owner of the SharePoint-site and thus the document library.
  • It prompts that the documents are Read-Only, but the read-only checkbox is not ticked in the properties.
  • When I open the security tab in the properties of the specific document, I also have read/write access.
  • I'm logged in into the same Windows account as I am logged in to SharePoint.

I think this is especially weird, since I do have rights to modify files on other owned SharePoint-sites.

    Hi @Nadjaran

You could check whether the problem is on SharePoint. For example, if the files are checked out by someone else, you will have no access to edit them.

You could also go to library settings > versioning settings to check whether the "Require check out" option is selected:
