"Please wait... We're still loading the presentation"

Today I was contacted by a user complaining that when they are sent an email with a link to a PowerPoint.pptx file that is stored in SharePoint, as their default and only browser is MS Edge, when the file is opened and any of the options are selected on the Toolbar it shows "Please wait... We're still loading the presentation". User's image

We have tried opening in Chrome and also opening in MS Teams it appears to work which leads me to believe the error is with the MS Edge browser. Has anybody else seen this before and found a way to make it work?

I also had a user bring this up last week, only difference is the issue only appears in chrome for my user, Edge works fine. So this seems less a problem with a browser directly and instead seems to be a MS issue. No solutions yet.

Same problem here in chrome, and Edge works fine. Clearing cache does not resolve the problem.

I also have users that have reported the same error whilst working with PowerPoint on the web version. Seems to work in the desktop application. Is this a wider issue?

I have exactly the same issue in Google Chrome, clear cache, deleted and uploaded the power point but still the same

Mine has started working again, I haven't done anything, even my pc has been running overnight with everything open so I am assuming this was on the ms end and they have fixed it.
I assume they did a release and just didn't test it properly in chrome then rolled back when they noticed the issues in production, but that is just my guess.

Seems to have somehow magically started working again for us today.

The easy workaround, if you have this problem, is to copy the link the the presentation, then open PowerPoint on your desktop. File ¬ Open ¬ Browse. Paste the link that you copied and it should open and work as expected in Desktop app (Obviously you will need that to be installed).
