Hello,

I am experiencing issues with Microsoft Azure Backup.

Error I keep getting below

"The Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent cannot connect to the OBEngine service is present in the Services Control Panel and that the port No_Param is available. (0x186D4)"

On this specific server I am having troubles with, I have followed all the trouble shooting steps listed under https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-mars-troubleshoot

We have other servers on the same sub-net without issues.

The services are allowed through the firewall with the correct ports open.

I have verified that the MARSagent installer is up to date.

    Hello Bruce Willhite,

Based on the error message you provided, it seems that the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent is unable to connect to the OBEngine service. This error can occur due to various reasons such as network connectivity issues, firewall settings, or incorrect port settings.

Since you have already followed the troubleshooting steps listed under https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-mars-troubleshoot, I would recommend you to check the following:

Ensure that the OBEngine service is present in the Services Control Panel and that it is running.

Verify that the port mentioned in the error message (No_Param) is available and not being used by any other application.

    1. Check if there are any network connectivity issues between the server and Azure.
    2. Ensure that the firewall settings are configured correctly and the required ports are open.
    3. Check if there are any antivirus or security software installed on the server that might be blocking the connection.

If you have already checked all the above steps and still facing the issue, I would recommend you to contact Microsoft Azure Support for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with more specific troubleshooting steps based on your environment and configuration.

    Hi Bruce,

Do you have any AV or third party software like scanning tools or file checker apps? I will suggest stop the service or uninstall that and try again, also check this out - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-the-microsoft-recovery-services-agent-cannot-connect-to-the-obengine-service-when-you-add-the-mars-agent-add-in-602033ae-b694-1ebf-673d-49fa803c240f

    Hope this helps.
