We will scan the VMware environment of the customer , In the documentation (VMWare Dependency analysis agentless) I saw for dependency analysis its not supported for 2016 servers. I was wondering why 2016 is not supported and 2019 is supported?

    Hello Zeynep Kamali,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Are you referencing this document: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/migrate/migrate-support-matrix-vmware#dependency-analysis-requirements-agentless

If yes, I see Windows 2016 is not listed. The document didn't provide the reason. However, my understanding is VMware Dependency Analysis Agentless is not supported for Windows Server 2016. The WMI provider in Windows Server 2016 does not support the necessary queries that are required for the VMware Dependency Analysis Agentless to work properly. This limitation is addressed in Windows Server 2019.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
