I've been trying to upload a file in our team's subscription with cloud shell storage using cloud shell menu Manage Files. It seems to finish 100% of the upload then an error message comes up saying "Error occurred during file upload". It has no other error details what exactly went wrong.

    Hello, @Eladio Guzman !

Why am I getting an "Error occurred during file upload" when trying to upload a file to Azure Cloud Shell?

As noted in the Azure Cloud Shell troubleshooting documentation, you would encounter disallowed errors if there was an Azure Policy that prevented storage creation or when using Microsoft Entra ID subscriptions. You would see a failed to connect to terminal error if it was networking related.

The fileshare used to persist data is 5 GB and there is a 20 minute timeout, neither of which seem to be what you are running into. It is possible that the file extension is causing the issue so I would try uploading just the zip and just the files.

If that doesn't work, we'll need to take a closer at your resources as unfortunately the error message isn't more specific. Please email the following to AzCommunity@microsoft.com and we'll get back to you promptly:

    • Subject: "Attn: kobulloc - Cloud Shell upload error"
    • Email body: Your Subscription ID
    • Email body: A link to this thread so we can validate and expedite the request

If you don't receive a response within 24 hours, please reply to the thread so we can investigate.

I hope this has been helpful! Your feedback is important so please take a moment to accept answers. If you still have questions, please let us know what is needed in the comments so the question can be answered. Thank you for helping to improve Microsoft Q&A! User's image
