Blue Green Deployment of Docker Compose Azure App

Question

I have a docker compose-based Azure App that makes use of Azure MySql Flexible Server and credentials stored in Azure Keyvault.

I am wondering if there are any guidelines for blue-green deployment of Docker Compose Azure App. I know Azure App's deployment slots can be allocated but that option is not available in Azure MySql Flexible Server.

What are the best practices to address this issue?

Hi,

Blue-Green deployment is generally not applicable to database servers.

Doing blue/green on a database is more of a mandate of "no breaking changes", than a technical solution. A database is generally too big to copy to a new server and swap out for every deployment, and not really necessary if you follow the rules of no breaking changes.
