Greyed out drop down lists

Question

In Excel, when I click on a drop down list on the tool bar (fill color, Sort & Filter, Auto Sum, etc) all the drop down options are greyed out & I cannot click on any of them.

Could you provide a screenshot about your problem?

How did you create the drop down list? Data Validation or Control to create the drop down list?

If other menu items on the ribbon are equally greyed out, you may need to activate your office subscription.
