cannot modify azure backup (MARS) to stop and delete backups

Azure will not let me cancel a backup on one of my servers. Cannot cancel using the azure portal because it is a protected service and to do this, I have to use the backup agent on the server. After generating a security pin in the backup vault and entering it I c=gat a message that the pin is invalid.

From the details of your question, I understand that you are trying to stop and delete the backup but unable to do so.

If you are unable to cancel a backup for one of your servers in Azure using the Azure portal and the backup agent on the server is not accepting the security PIN, there may be an issue with the Azure Backup service or with your account permissions.

First thing, please ensure you are running the latest version of MARS agent. Download the latest version of the Azure Backup agent

For cancelling MARS agent backup, there are two options that Azure backup offers.
Stop protection and retain backup data.

Stop protection and delete backup data.
