Hi Team,

We say this message on our salesforce linked service connector going to be deprecated on "October 11, 2024"

"The current legacy linked service is to be deprecated. Kindly upgrade this by creating a new Salesforce linked service"

Below are some of the questions,

Are all the existing pipelines based on this linked service will be broken after the date?

Is it still going to work but we cannot do any modifications like adding "new columns"

  1. Is it possible to extend the date for some tenants.

Please let us know.

Regards,

Babi

    Hi @Dash, Babi
Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.
I understand that you have received a message regarding the deprecation of the Salesforce linked service (Legacy) and you have some questions regarding the impact of this deprecation on your existing pipelines and the possibility of extending the deprecation date for some tenants.

Are all the existing pipelines based on this linked service will be broken after the date?

Yes, it's likely that existing pipelines using the legacy linked service will be affected after October 11, 2024. Once the connector is deprecated, it may no longer be supported or maintained, which could lead to errors or failures in your pipelines.

Is it still going to work but we cannot do any modifications like adding "new columns"?

After the deprecation date, you may still be able to use the existing linked service, but you won't be able to make any modifications, such as adding new columns. The connector will likely be in a "read-only" mode, allowing you to continue using it for existing purposes, but without the ability to make changes or updates.

Is it possible to extend the date for some tenants?

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that the deprecation date can be extended for specific tenants. The deprecation date is typically set by the service provider (in this case, Salesforce), and it's usually a hard deadline.

To avoid disruptions, I strongly recommend creating a new Salesforce linked service as suggested in the message. This will ensure that your pipelines continue to work smoothly and that you can take advantage of any new features or improvements.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
