There is a little confusion as to the impact of the following MFA activation email we received. Does this impact ONLY admin users, or ALL Users?

Action required: Enable multifactor authentication for your tenant by 15 October 2024

Starting 15 October 2024, we will require users to use multifactor authentication (MFA) to sign into the Azure portal, Microsoft Entra admin center, and Intune admin center. To ensure your users maintain access, you’ll need to enable MFA by 15 October 2024. If you can’t enable MFA for your users by that date, you’ll need to apply to postpone the enforcement date. If you don’t, your users will be required to set up MFA.

To identify which users are signing into Azure with and without MFA, refer to our documentation.
To ensure your users can access the Azure portal, Microsoft Entra admin center, and Intune admin center, enable MFA for your users by 15 October 2024.
If you can’t enable MFA by 15 October 2024, apply to postpone the enforcement date.

This MFA Enforcement will impact all tenant users. To access Azure portal, Microsoft Entra admin center, or Microsoft Intune admin center, users must complete MFA.

Thank you so much for your response. I need your help one more time. Can you please confirm if all 1975 users on this tenant in the attached screenshot would be impacted with the MFA enforcement, if they do not directly log into the Azure portal. These users authenticate through Entra for our application.

Yes, Enforcing MFA in Azure AD will impact all users in the tenant, regardless of how they authenticate. This means that if you enable MFA for your tenant, all users will be required to complete the MFA process when they sign in to any application or service that uses Azure AD for authentication, including your Entra application.

Thank you for your follow-up. I have another question regarding MFA enforcement. The users in my tenant have different identity types, and I’ve included a screenshot showing these types.

Could you please confirm if identity types belonging to a different tenant, such as ExternalAzureAD and MicrosoftAccount, will also be impacted by the MFA enforcement in my tenant? These users are verified using B2B (Business-to-Business) authentication.

Yes, MFA has to be adhered either from the partner resource tenant, or the user's home tenant if it's set up properly to send MFA claims to the resource tenant by using cross-tenant access.
