Windows 11, Microsoft Officed Professional Plus 2021

Begin with a document that has several sections with Heading 1, and 2.  Add table of contents in this manner:

References -> Table of Contents

toc_1

Click on the middle section titled Automatic Table 2.  The table of contents is inserted and looks like this

toc 2

There are no page numbers.  If I figure it out, the document is only 41 KB and will be attached.

Hmmm, file type docx is not allowed. Here is a PDF of the document.

If requested, I can post the document to a personal web page.

What have I done wrong to prevent page numbers from being displayed?

Thank you for your time.

    You are looking at your file in Web Layout view. Choose View>Print Layout to see page numbers.
