Below is a step‐by‐step troubleshooting guide that many users have found effective when the Redragon M908 software reports “no mouse detected.” Although various factors might be at play—from USB connectivity to firmware issues—try the following steps:

    1. Confirm Basic Connectivity

Check the USB Port: Unplug your mouse and plug it into another known–working USB port. If possible, use a port directly on your computer rather than a hub.

Verify in Device Manager: Open Windows Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager). Expand Mice and other pointing devices to confirm that your system recognizes the mouse. If you don’t see it or if it appears as an “Unknown Device,” Windows may not be detecting it properly.

    1. Download and Install the Latest Software

Obtain the Latest Version: Visit the official Redragon website and search for the M908 (or Impact series) software. Manufacturers sometimes release updated software to fix detection issues.

Run as Administrator: Once downloaded, right-click the installer and select Run as administrator. This ensures the software has the permissions necessary to communicate with connected devices.

    1. Reset and Update the Mouse Firmware

Firmware Reset/Update: Some users have discovered that the “no mouse detected” message can be resolved by resetting the mouse’s firmware. Within the downloaded software package (or separately on the Redragon support site), look for a firmware update or reset tool.

Follow the instructions provided by the reset tool—this often means keeping the mouse plugged in during the process.

Software Configuration: After the reset and firmware update, open the Redragon software (again, run it as administrator) to see if it now recognizes your mouse.

    1. Additional Troubleshooting

Windows Compatibility: Some users have reported that using an alternative version of the software (for example, a variant used for a slightly different model like the M612) has worked for them. Although not officially documented, it’s worth checking forums or the Redragon community pages for shared experiences.

Disable Conflicting Software: Ensure that no other mouse management or customization software is running in the background as it can sometimes conflict with the Redragon software.

Review Antivirus/Firewall Settings: At times, security software might block the proper functioning of peripheral management tools. Temporarily disable any security tools (if safe) to test if that allows the software to detect the device.

Restart Your PC: A simple restart after installation and updates can help, ensuring all changes take effect properly.

    1. If the Issue Persists
    • Contact Support: If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Redragon’s customer support. Providing details of the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken can help them diagnose the problem more quickly.

By following these steps, you should be able to get your Redragon M908 recognized by its software. Many users have reported that switching USB ports, updating firmware, and running the software with elevated privileges has resolved similar issues. If you’d like more guidance—for example, on how to update firmware or check Windows Device Manager in detail—let me know, and we can explore that next.
