This question had been asked before, but not really answered.

For new projects, is it advisable to implement Entra External ID instead of Azure B2C? Is there a roadmap for Azure B2C deprecation?

The question is asked since we already implement Azure B2C for other customer-facing applications and will prefer implementing Azure B2C also for new applications being introduced, but assuming it will NOT be deprecated in the near future.

    Hello @Johan Van Heerden,

AAD B2C sales are being concluded globally effective May 1, 2025, as of this date Azure AD B2C will no longer be available for new customers. New subscriptions will not be able to create B2C tenants.

For existing customers if you have already created B2C tenant before May 1st, you can continue to operate it as normal, create new tenant and manage existing ones with any issue. Billing will also continue as usual.

In perspective of future implementation it is being advised to use External ID but there is no need of immediate migration at least not for FY26. Microsoft will be releasing migration tooling and guidance on upgrade path over the next year to assist for the migration.

Expected retirement of B2C is 2030 but not any time before, by 2030 we'll be encouraging and helping customers to move to External ID but currently no immediate action is required.

You may visit below documentation to review the migration steps https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/external-id/customers/how-to-migrate-users.
