Bitlocker problem on Windows 11

I am trying to install bitlocker on a Dell laptop, but I am getting this error message (attached)

A quick google shows the error code means it timed out while trying to perform the operation. The AI generated response to the search indicates it could be caused by hardware validation issues and that you need to clean up the registry. The recommended solution, not at all tested, is to open the registry editor and go to HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\FVE. Then delete the following keys if they exist: OSPlatformValidation_BIOS, OSPlatformValidation_UEFI and PlatformValidation. Then try enabling BitLocker again.
