WIFI is missing

Hi,

Under 'Network and Internet' settings there is no option for WIFI and my networks have just dissapeared.

I have a surface 3 laptop thats about 1.5 years old. I have run trouble shooting and it says there may be a problem with the WLAN adapter.

I have opened the device manager to check the adapter, I am unable to roll it back as was suggested and also I have checked my PC is up to date and no new updates were installed in the last few days.

I have been noticing my PC connects to the network at home but not the internet the last few days despite other devices being able to.

Please help.

Thank you for posting your inquiry here in Microsoft Community, EhrardVermaak.

We are sorry to hear about the Wi-Fi issue. Here are the methods that we suggest:

  • Try to uninstall the VPN (if you have) on the device and see how it goes.
  • Check if the device's airplane mode is on.
  • Perform a network reset, select the Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
  • Refresh the Wi-Fi driver. Go to device manager > find and expand the Wi-Fi driver > Right-click then choose uninstall. > restart the device.
  • Try running the network commands to restart the network settings:
  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt. The Command Prompt button will appear. To the right of it, select Run as administrator > Yes.
  2. At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:
  • Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.
  • Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.

Feel free to respond to this thread to let us know how the methods above goes.

I tried a network reset numerous times throughout the day but to no avail. Once I uninstalled the VPN as per your suggestion I thought I'd give it one last try et voila, did the trick. Thanks so much, appreciated.
