RDS client single mouse clicks produce double clicks for just one user

Greetings,

I have a single Windows 10 user that connects to an application server through RDS and when he interacts with the application it's producing double clicks when single clicking. Using TeamViewer, I connected to his computer remotely, rebooted, logged into the computer using my creds (first time), he logged into the RDS session as himself and was able to recreate the issue. His computer was Windows 10 v2004

I completely reset his Windows 10 computer and fully patched it and it happened again on the first try.

Had him connect to another computer through RDP and he was able to reproduce the issue but with far less frequency. he is currently working in this manner. Less then ideal.

He is running Windows 10 v20H2

RDS is running on Windows 2019 Datacenter

Application is on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter

All platforms are up to date on their Windows updates.

NO OTHER USERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.

I feel that it's not Windows 10 or the users profile on the client. Where I'm a little unsure with is could it be a profile issue on the application server? If I remove the users windows profile on the application server could that resolve a mouse click issue????

    Hi,
    1.Per your description, it sounds to be hardware related issue rather than RDS configuration.
    Was it the standard mouse that non-working user has been used? Will the issue persisted if switching to another mouse?

    2.Please also checking the settings of the mstsc or try with the RDP tool downloaded from windows store.

    3.Per searching, there are issues like Mouse stutter with RDP sessions due to the driver.(different behaviors but kind of clue)

    1. So we tried different mice including touch pad and it still did it. Had him RDP to another computer and it didn't do it as much but it now getting worse.
    2. RDS is reached through weblink which downloads the RDP session to us. Is there a way he can connect to RDS server other then through our web link?
    3. His computer was working fine up until windows updates +2 days.

    I requested one of the downloaded RDP sessions he receives to connect to the application. RDP > open (file) > Local Resources > More... that 'Other supported Plug and Play (PnP) devices' is checked but it's greyed out. How do I edit the RDP shortcut that was downloaded? I know very little about RDS.

    And just to clarify, when I stated that I 'reset his Windows 10 computer', I did a Reset and had Windows 10 downloaded and delete all his files on his computer.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update.
    1.Is there a way he can connect to RDS server other then through our web link?
    To directly remote the RDS server, you shall get the FQDN (server.domainname.com) or the IP address, then input these info after open mstsc.
    You could also check the PNP devices under local Resource tab.

    2.How do I edit the RDP shortcut that was downloaded? I know very little about RDS.
    You could check below link which instructed the value in .rdp file you've downloaded. You could manually change the settings by GUI in RDS connection broker or with notepad to modify the downloaded one.

    New computer and same thing happened; double click persists between screen ONLY within the RDS screens.

    BUT when I did Team screen share and gave him control, he logged into the web site with the RDS connections, it worked fine for him.

    Are the RDS sessions cached anywhere?

    Hi,
    It sounds like the issue is related to specific user account. Please try to compare if any group policy difference under user configuration between working and non-working user accounts.

    For the RDP related issue, you could check event logs under following path:
    TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager and TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager logs to view information about connections.

    Step 1: Press Windows+R to open the Run dialog, enter eventvwr (or eventvwr.msc) and hit OK.

    Step 2: Navigate to Event Viewer\ Applications and Services Logs\ Microsoft\ Windows\ TerminalServices-*
