Try update Windows and Microsoft Excel and see if the problem persist?
Excel freezing
I have Ofc Pro 2016 (The full version loaded on my machine, not a cloud application) running in a Windows 10 Home environment. This problem does not occur every time, but if I have multiple workbooks open in Excel, it may freeze. By that I mean that all workbooks will fail to respond to any keyboard input. All other applications function normally.
This problem can occur with as few as two workbooks open. I don't recall if it occurs if I have just a single workbook open. I want to say that it can, but I can't say that with any certainty.
The resolution is to close any open workbook & the remaining workbooks will respond. If I close a workbook & then immediately open any workbook, including the one I just closed, all workbooks continue to respond.
I am guessing some setting exceeds a maximum threshold, but I don't know which one. Is there an adjustment that I can make? Or am I simply at some hard limitation?

2021-05-11T07:13:11.83+00:00 - Could you please tell me what's the architecture (32 bit or 64 bit) of your Office?
For the memory utilization, it's better to install Office 64-bit. - How do you open these Excel files? Such as via opening files from Excel app or via double clicking Excel files.
If Excel freezes, please go to Task Manager to check whether there are more than 1 Excel instances.
Such as the screenshot, there are 2 instances, and each instance has 1 workbook opended.
- It's recomended to go to File > Options > Advanced to tick “Disable hardware graphics acceleration” checkbox under the Display part,
and uncheck “Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange” under the General part to check this issue. - Besides, there is an article, “Excel not responding, hangs, freezes or stops working” you may refer to it. Such as run Excel in Safe Mode, and open multiple workbooks to check this issue.
- Then, please refer to Reza-Ameri's reply, try to update Windows system and Office.
Any updates, please post back.
