Has anyone experienced a situation where the Page Layout in Word, displays incorrectly? When I click on Layout and select Portrait orientation, I get Landscape orientation instead. When I click on Landscape, I get Portrait orientation instead. This means my document does not print out in the correct orientation I want.

The document, and probably the template from which it was created, is set to have two pages per sheet while the page orientation is set to Portrait, which results in the page "orientation" appearing as if it was in landscape mode.  With the two pages per sheet setting if the pages are to appear as portrait, the orientation must be set to landscape.

I would suggest that you open the Normal template as a document and then change the paper format (if necessary) and the orientation. Save and close the template.

Afterwards, exit Word and see what has been set as the default orientation in your printer. Change that setting, if necessary.

For Portrait, check the Paper tab of Page Setup to make sure that the width is not greater than the height, and the reverse for Landscape.

Which paper format are you using? With custom paper formats, I believe there may be issues.

Also, note that different sections of the document can have different orientation (if that helps).

    Hi Robin,

I have never experienced this exactly, but sometimes things can look like this is what is happening.

What happens when you print (perhaps to pdf)?

Is this a problem with one document or all documents or something in between?

Does it happen if you open Word in Safe mode?

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Open-O...

Safe mode is not a way to regularly use Word, but it is a valuable diagnostic step. If your problem goes away when you use Safe mode, we can walk you through other steps that may help eliminate the problem. Please write back.

If it works in Safe mode, you may want to look at the following while waiting for more information from me or here on the forum.
