Hello Limitless Technology-2700
Thanks a lot for writing in. However, my question has been wrongly understood, I guess. Let me be more explicit.
The Computer has a Wired Internet Connection and is connected to a LAN. The Machine NOT getting connecting to the Internet is NOT the Problem.
I am able to browse the Internet, I am able to receive and send mails, I am able to browse the Local Area Network & The File and Print shares are working too.
The Problem is the Network Icon in the Taskbar instead of showing the Computer Icon - which indicates a functional LAN & Internet connection - shows the Globe Icon, which indicates that there is no functional Internet OR LAN Connection. When I hover my mouse over this Task Bar Icon, the Icon Text says " You Are Not Connected To Any Networks".
Now, even though the LAN & Internet is working fine, Windows - God Knows Why - is not recognizing the presence of an Internet connection and is displaying the above quoted message. And, since Windows is not recognizing the connection Windows Updates does not work, a few application that needs to keep on checking for Licenses for its smooth functioning does not work as expected because they too like Windows are fooled into believing that there is no functional internet connection. As quoted in my earlier question the Network Card has been reset multiple times. The DNS has been flushed, released and renewed a couple of times. The Network card has been assigned with an IP and DNS addresses manually and all and every possible tweak to the registry has been done. Hope I have made myself clear..
Windows 10 Annoyances :: You are not connected to any Networks
This has become a headache & I am tired of trying to find a Solution Or a workaround for this.
My machine has Wired Internet Connection & the connection is hale and hearty as in I am able to receive mails, browse websites and other internet based stuff. However, the only hitch is every application that needs to connect to the Internet to download it’s respective updates is not working because the respective application is tricked by Windows -courtesy “You are not connected to any networks” status - into believing that there is no active internet working in the machine. Windows is not able to download the updates from it’s own servers.
Following is the list apparent fixes that have been tried and tested.
- The Network card has been RESET a zillion number of times.
- The Latest Network Drivers have been installed and reinstalled many times.
- The Network Cables have been changed too.
- A few online forums opine that it could be a Windows update that is playing the spoil sport but they do not mention the relevant update. How am I to figure out which update is causing this “Never Ending Irritant”.
- The specific Windows Registry keys have been checked and no errors were detected in them.
Please, help me on this. Trust me this has become quite an irritant. The only option I am left with is to Reinstall Windows OR disable the on board Network Card and plug in a PCI/PCIe network card. I wish to do that after exhausting all available options. Just in case I have missed out on something.

No answer to this as yet. It is now November 2024 and my main desktop has been struck with the same issue.
The globe icon on the taskbar says "You aren't connected to any networks." while the ethernet cabled connection to my router and ultimately the internet is working perfectly and I can browse the web, (including typing this message) while any Windows Update, OneDrive, and similar, fail to connect with similar messages telling me it is not connected.
Similar to the OP EternalSeeker, I have updated the RealTek Ethernet device driver, unplugged and replugged all the network devices, rebooted, restarted, etc... nothing appears to work.
There is mention of a Windows Update being at fault, but I have yet to find any specific information to help remove or fix the issue.
Thanks in advance if someone has a solution for us.
cheers
Tony
