Hello,
After creating an Azure Function project in Visual Studio 2022, I encountered an issue when attempting to publish it to Azure. Specifically, the action to create or export a publish profile fails. I have configured my account permissions according to the relevant documentation (as shown in the attached screenshot), but the problem persists. How can I resolve this? This issue has severely impacted our workflow progress.
My environment is Windows 11, and the Azure Function is built on .NET 8.0.

I totally understand how frustrating it can be when you're trying to publish your Azure Function and it just won’t cooperate! Here are some suggestions you can try to resolve the issue with the publish profile failing in Visual Studio:
.NET 8.0 support for Azure Functions is in preview in some tooling versions. Ensure you are using Visual Studio 2022 17.6+ and the latest Azure Functions Core Tools v5.
If your issue persists, consider creating the Function targeting .NET 7 to confirm it is not a tooling/preview compatibility bug.
- Check Local Functionality: Ensure that your Azure Function runs locally without issues. Use the latest Azure Function Runtime Core Tools for local testing.
- Verify Permissions: You mentioned configuring your account permissions according to the documentation, but double-checking wouldn't hurt! Make sure you have the necessary roles assigned, such as 'Contributor' or 'Owner' for the relevant resource group or subscription.
- Application Settings: After deploying, your function app's application settings (like connection strings) aren’t automatically updated. Go to the Azure Portal, navigate to your Function App, and verify that these settings are correct under Application Settings.
- Existing Function App: If you are publishing to an existing Function App, ensure that any existing code is not locked. It can help to stop the Azure Function before proceeding with the upload or even use the App Offline feature to avoid locking issues.
- Network Restrictions: Ensure that your local environment’s network settings do not block deployment. Sometimes, firewall settings or proxy issues can interfere with the connection.
- Web Publish Method: Ensure you’re using the recommended zip deployment method instead of Web Deploy (
msdeploy), which can lead to complications.

Thank you for your reply. I have encountered an issue where, in my local environment using the same account, sometimes it creates correctly, and other times the "Create" button becomes grayed out. I am currently unable to create again. What could be causing this situation? It's quite puzzling.
