Before anything else, confirm the app is allowed to use the camera.

On Android tablets

• Settings → Apps → Microsoft Authenticator
• Tap Permissions
• Make sure Camera = Allow
• Restart the app

On iPad

• Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
• Turn ON Microsoft Authenticator
• Close and reopen the app

Scan the QR code inside Microsoft Authenticator

Open Microsoft Authenticator

Tap + (Add account)

Choose:

• Work or school account
• or Personal Microsoft account

Select Scan a QR code

Point the rear camera at the QR code

(Rear cameras focus better than front cameras)

Hold the tablet steady and keep the QR code centered and well-lit.
