Use the following steps to troubleshoot the Windows app from Microsoft Store not opening or appearing:
- Reset Microsoft Store
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
- A blank Command Prompt window opens and closes after about 10 seconds, then Microsoft Store opens automatically.
- In Microsoft Store, search for the Windows app again and select Get or Install.
- Confirm the app actually installed
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Go to your Library (icon in the left pane).
- Check if the Windows app shows as Installed. If not, select Install.
- Check reasons the app might not appear or install
If it still does not open or show on the device, verify the following:
- The app is available in the current country/region.
- Microsoft family settings are not blocking the app (if using family features).
- The app has not been removed from Microsoft Store.
- The device is compatible with the app (Store hides incompatible apps or the purchase/install button).
- The PC has been restarted after recent Windows updates.
- The PC is authorized and signed in with the correct Microsoft account in Microsoft Store.
- Open the app from Start
- Select Start.
- Start typing the app name (for example, “Windows app”).
- If it appears in search results, select it to open.
If the app still will not open after these steps, repeat the Store reset, uninstall the app from the Store Library if it shows as installed, then install it again.
