Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi,
ATT requires a secure Email Key. Folloow this guide:
STEP 1:
- Sign in to your AT&T account at currently.att.yahoo.com
- Go to Profile > Sign-in info > Secure mail key > Manage secure mail key
- Select Add secure mail key, give it a nickname (e.g., "Outlook Desktop"), then click Create secure mail key
- Copy it immediately — it's shown only once
STEP 2:
- Open Outlook > File > Add Account
- Enter your full att.net email address, click Advanced options, check "Let me set up my account manually", then click Connect
- Select IMAP (recommended for multi-device sync)
- Server:
imap.mail.att.net| Port: 993 | Encryption: SSL/TLS - Server:
smtp.mail.att.net| Port: 465 (try 587 if 465 fails) | Encryption: SSL/TLS. - Username: your full att.net email address
- Password: paste your Secure Mail Key (NOT your AT&T login password)
- Check "Remember password" and "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)".
Click OK > Next — Outlook will test the connection. Critical: AT&T no longer accepts your regular account password in third-party clients like Outlook. The Secure Mail Key is mandatory — without it, you will get an authentication error
