Disability Etiquette

To ensure the most delightfully inclusive and accessible products possible, it is critical to involve gamers with disabilities early in product development. This, unfortunately, can be daunting for some game developers who haven’t had much experiencing working with the Gaming & Disability Community. Fears of accidentally offending someone can lead to an individual or group’s voice being excluded, resulting in the loss of valuable feedback from those with diverse lived experiences.

In an effort to help, Xbox has put together a training session to help game developers have enjoyable and productive interactions with people with disabilities. The short, 16-minute video below covers the basics of interacting with people with various categories of disabilities. After watching it, you should feel better prepared and more comfortable working with gamers with disabilities.
