Devices built on top of MDEP platform must support accessibility features. Partners can use MDEP version of Text-to-Speech (TTS) as is or can integrate their own engines (embedded or cloud based).
MDEP provides the implementation of TTS which adapts Microsoft’s Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine. MDEP does not support accessibility TTS service by default, but the Google open-source implementation of TTS service will be leveraged for MDEP implementation. MDEP Text-to-Speech Engine is a service that instantiates and runs Microsoft TTS SDK. In the first implementation, MDEP will be a purely offline model only and will continue providing hybrid (online/offline) in a future upgrade. Both TTS and TTS services will be released as a binary.
