Real time feedback for faculty development

Completed

Effective school leaders focus on teacher retention and professional growth as they work to develop a high-performing faculty/staff. They create mentoring plans for new teachers, involve staff in the decision-making process, and actively collaborate with stakeholders disaggregating student data. Leaders save time and energy when they use Microsoft Forms to evaluate, monitor, and provide timely feedback to faculty on the effectiveness of instruction.

Use cases

  • Create a Forms survey for informal teacher feedback. Questions should gather the date of observation, the teacher's name and email, the subject area observed, the observation criteria, the evidence gathered, and so on. Use sections and branching with grade levels/teacher names to help manage the number of questions. The video below provides additional support.

    • New Form and New Quiz are different. New quiz requires correct answers, new form is similar to a survey. Using a New Form (survey) within Microsoft Forms would be best for this scenario.
    • Including a question asking for the teacher's email address will allow for easy flow creation in Power Automate to automatically send the teacher their results. A multiple choice question minimizes typing errors and allows for quicker survey completion.
    • Microsoft Forms: Creating authentic assessments
  • Set up Power Automate to automatically send the teacher an email of results. The course and video below provide other support.

  • Many school leaders use "informal walkthrough" to visit classrooms and provide teachers with real-time feedback. These walkthroughs are opportunities for a school leader to pop in for a short visit and are different from the traditional formal evaluation that is scheduled and planned. For informal walkthroughs, consider using the Forms share link to bookmark the survey on your phone or tablet, or add it to your phone's home screen. The video below provides additional support.

  • When the walkthrough is complete, Power Automate will automatically email results to the observed teacher. You view the results from the browser on your computer and print the individual response to a private section in a teacher's OneNote Staff Notebook.
