Will a GA version of Form Recognizer work with Office documents ?

I am building a tool that has to do OCR on a bunch of files, mainly PDFs and Office documents.

While I started building the tool, back in the middle of 2022, I was using the 2022/06/30-preview, assuming that the next GA release would include the new features, ie support for Office Documents. However, when the 2022-08-31 was promoted to GA, this support was dropped, not even with a comment on it in the Changelog.

There is no clear information on the [documentation] about :

  • the fact that support for Office files will be back in a next GA version, and if so in what timeframe
  • the fact that 2022/06/30-preview will be deprecated and when, even though it is written [here] that "Preview APIs are periodically deprecated. If you're using a preview API version, plan on updating your application to target the GA API version once available.", so I can't rely on building a product that uses it.

Is support for Office file something I can count on in the future, or not ?
