Why am I loosing emails from my subfolders in Outlook

I'm loosing emails after I have moved them from my Inbox to a subfolder. It seems that they are disappearing after an attempt to bring in new emails. I most always get a "synchronizing" message when new mail is coming in. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
