On what basis SPWeb.SiteUserInfoList.IsActive field of SiteUserInfoList property decides inactive/active sharepoint users?

I want to fetch the inactive sharepoint users from a particular sharepoint site. But I need to know the criteria( lastLogonTime or lastPasswordSet or actions performed in the site,etc) of deciding both active and inactive users based on a sharepoint site. Could anyone tell how the is_Active field of SPWeb.SiteUserInfoList property decides both active and inactive sharepoint users?

Hi @unkown_25

When a user accesses a site collection the first time, they are added to the profile. Howevere, a property named tp_IsActive in the USER INFORMATION LIST is set to false until the user interacts with the site by adding a document or clicking a link. When this property is false the user information will not be synced by the jobs WSSProfileSynch and WSSSweepSynch .

So, inactive users haven't made any attempts such as by clicking a link or adding a document. Is this criteria enough to conclude both active and inactive users or anything else?. Some active users might be changed to inactive one. What type of criteria used to figure out this case?.

Hi @unkown_25

Yes, inactive users haven't made any attempts such as by clicking a link or adding a document. But we can turn inactive user to active user without above operation by ensureuser.

$AuthorLoginName = "i:0#.w|domain\akshay" try{ [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPUser]$Author = $w.EnsureUser($AuthorLoginName) } catch {}

There is no such function to change active user to in active. You can only remove the user and add again.

I am using SharePoint on-premise , seems some users are active before but currently these users are inactive for a particular site collection .Could you please explain how this case works? Is there any threshold for considering active status of users?

One more thing to know ,we got confused that 'SiteUserInfo' property listed two entries for the same account as one is active and another one is inactive.

{title : test audit , name : DOMAIN\testaudit , isActive : False}

{title : test audit , name : i:0#.w|domain\testaudit , isActive : True}
