I was charged for the monthly subscription for Microsoft 365 but when I try to use Microsoft Word it says my subscription has expired and needs renewed. I am logged in and it shows on my account that I did pay on Oct. 5th 2020 for the services. How can I fix this so I can use Microsoft Word?

What version of Microsoft 365 did you subscribe?
Did you subscribe home version like Microsoft 365 Personal, Microsoft 365 Family? If I have any misunderstandings, you can let me know.
Please login into www.office.com, from the upper-right corner select your account name, and then select View account from the list of options.

The message could be from an older, expired trial version. Check your list of installed programs (if you are running Windows 10, look in the Apps & Features category of the Windows 10 Settings app). Uninstall any trial version that you find.
If this doesn't work, you can uninstall all Office software using the Uninstall support tool (see Option 2 in the article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-from-a-pc-9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8) and then start fresh with a new installation from your account.
