Changes to Teams Phone Settings when Team Updates

Hi!

A couple of times now, some settings in Teams Phone have changed when an update to Teams is made.

The first time - I'm not even entirely aware of what was included in the update - but the result had removed the connection from our main auto-attendant to another (through menu options), and then removed the set menu options for the secondary auto-attendant (which is for after hours). This resulted in clients being left on a loop with the hold music, and no ability to leave a voicemail or select a menu option.

Recently, the update (whenever it occurred) appears to have knocked off the call forwarding to external numbers set up for three of our agents (for use through the aforementioned secondary auto-attendant), meaning we have been missing calls.

Wondering if anyone might have any advice on what to do for future updates? It takes some time for me to figure out what exactly is going on because I have to go through every detail in the AAs and CQs/RAs, then the Users to get to the bottom of it. Not to mention, I don't become aware of anything until something fails. I'm not seeing any emails regarding updates, or how I can make sure that I get any notifications when they are happening. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with settings in Teams Phone changing after updates and causing disruptions in your phone system. To ensure that you are notified about updates and avoid potential issues in the future, I recommend taking the following steps:

    1. Enable notifications: Check your notification settings in the Teams app to ensure that you are receiving notifications for updates. Go to the Teams app, click on your profile picture, then go to Settings > Notifications and make sure that you have notifications enabled for software updates.
    2. Subscribe to release notes: Microsoft regularly releases update notes for Teams, which provide information about new features, bug fixes, and changes. Consider subscribing to these release notes to stay informed about upcoming updates and any potential impact on your phone system. You can find the release notes on the Microsoft Teams blog or the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website.
    3. Test updates in a non-production environment: Before applying updates to your production environment, consider setting up a test environment where you can evaluate the impact of updates on your phone system without affecting your day-to-day operations. This will allow you to identify any issues and make necessary adjustments before implementing the updates in your production environment.
    4. Regularly review and document settings: It's important to regularly review and document the settings in your auto-attendants, call queues, and users to ensure that they are configured correctly. This will help you identify any changes that may occur after updates and allow you to quickly troubleshoot and resolve any issues.
    5. Reach out to Microsoft support: If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance. They have resources and expertise to help you troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Teams Phone updates.

Remember, staying proactive and informed about updates and proactively testing changes in a non-production environment can help mitigate potential issues and ensure a smoother experience with Teams Phone updates.
