I am using ADS on Windows
I have created a few SQL Connections from my Windows PC to SQL servers
Now I have to use MacBook and I still want to connect to the same Windows SQL servers I connected before from Windows PC
I installed Visual Studio Code on MacBook. It works fine .. but I failed to establish SQL connection.
I could ping SQL server but not connect. I tried Integrated and SQL authentication but it did not work.
I have mssql error: Unable to connect
Any suggestions how to establish connection in my case?

Can you please share the error screenshot or steps you have followed, The error Unable to connect does not help much, have you also tried connecting from ADS on Mac?

For some reason I don't get email notification from this Forum hence only today I noticed that you commented on my Question.
Well I tried today again and was able to establish connection. Likely my syntax was wrong before.
Still have a question: should I use ADS in my case while VS code fit all my needs. Actually for SQL I need. very lightweight utility and VS code fits my need. I thought that ADS was build on top of VS code? At least they look very similar ... based on interface.

I decided to use ADS since it has more 'power'. I downloaded it on my MacBook.
Now the last question: I already have a lot of SQL connections and a lot of stuff in 'Explorer' and etc.
How could I transfer all from VS Code to ADS?
Also likely I should uninstall VS Code after I transfer my stuff? What's the need to have both?

Actually I decided that I'd prefer to have ADS and I installed it on my MacBook.
Now the last question: I have a lot of stuff in VS Code ... like SQL connections, mount points to Windows shared drives and etc.
How could I transfer it from VS Code to ADS?
Also likely I will need to uninstall VS Code after that because I don't see the reason to keep both.

Sorry to bother you again ... I installed ADS and started to configure it ...BUT I realized that something is 'wrong' with my instance of ADS. I used ADS for a while on Windows and did not have any issues. This time I use it on Mac and it does not look that it works 'as expected'. First ... I don't see some extentions that I used on Windows e.g. mssql . When I wanted to check for update ..both ADS and VS Code failed with error: 'Cannot update while running on read-only volume...'
I moved installation from Download to Applications folder but it didn't make a difference.
Hence , I am confused ...
I like ADS on Windows but since it's not working well on Mac I won't install ADS on Mac and will try to continue to work with VS Code ... but it still bad that I can't Update it.
What's your opinion?

I was able to install ADS and it works fine

If you only need a lightweight utility for working with SQL Server, then VS Code may be sufficient for your needs. Ultimately, the choice between ADS and VS Code depends on your specific needs and preferences. If you require advanced SQL Server features and functionality, then ADS may be the better choice.
